George A. Papazian

George A. Papazian PhotoGeorge, a co-founder and principal of Naviscent, has more than 25 years experience in customer experience management, software, consulting and Internet industries. Before starting Naviscent, George was Chief Operating Officer of Silicon Valley start-up NetRaker Corporation, which provided usability and market research products and services to Fortune 1000 corporations. NetRaker was acquired by Keynote Systems in April 2004.

George came to NetRaker from Resonate, a pioneering Silicon Valley start-up focusing on Web server traffic management. As Vice President of Sales, he launched Resonate’s first product into the market, created a national sales force and established the company as the Internet traffic management software leader in corporate environments.

Prior to joining Resonate, George was Vice President of Software Sales at NCD Software, a division of Network Computing Devices. He was responsible for sales of NCD’s software products through multiple direct and indirect channels.

George also worked at Ashton-Tate, where he launched the Ashton-Tate/Microsoft SQL Server database. As a National Sales Manager for the company, he launched Unix, VMS, and client server technologies into various direct and indirect channels.

He has held various sales and marketing positions at Informix and Control Data Corporation, and has consulted with several technology companies. George serves as a Board Member of the American Red Cross, Silicon Valley.

George is also an advisor to the Board of Directors of the International Association of Business Communicators - Silicon Valley (IABC).

George has a B.S. degree in Finance and Management from New York University, New York City.

Douglas K. van Duyne

Douglas K. van Duyne PhotoDouglas, a co-founder and creative director of Naviscent, has more than 20 years of entrepreneurial, management and software design experience. An author of the best-selling Web site design book, The Design of Sites, Douglas is a leading influencer in the field of Customer Experience.

Before starting Naviscent, Douglas was a founder, CEO and President of Silicon Valley start-up, NetRaker Corporation. NetRaker’s online usability and market research tools and services were used in large-scale web-based research across Fortune 1000 companies. In April 2004, he and George engineered the successful acquisition of NetRaker by Keynote Systems.

His senior management experience includes positions at GO Corporation, an early portable computing developer; software product design at KidSoft, a pioneering e-commerce company that pre-dated Web-based shopping; and Dune Design Group, Inc., where his team executed large Web design projects for such clients as Intel, Safeway, Cooking.com, and healthshop.com.

Douglas is a sought-after speaker in the U.S.A. and internationally on topics such as customer experience management, usability, Web design, and design patterns. In the past, he has spoken at: American Marketing Association, Usability Professional’s Association Conferences, ACM-CHI Conferences, WebGuild Conferences, User Interface Engineering Conferences, and Norwegian Computer Society and Institute for International Research.

Douglas studied Computer Science, Physics, Visual Arts, and Music at the University of California, Berkeley and has a B.S. degree in Computer Science.

Alexander Koorkoff

Alex Koorkoff PhotoAlex is the Director of Technical Services for Naviscent. Alex is a highly experienced engineer who has worked on a variety of back end and front end applications. Alex’s technical work has ranged from middle-tier and back-end work for large scale enterprise systems to front-end design and development using various platforms and languages. He has a very strong knowledge of distributed systems, Web and E-commerce technologies, including Web-services and messaging based systems.

Alex leads Front End and Back End development teams across a variety of projects and is responsible for all technical consulting for Naviscent. He is leading development on the next generation document management system which Naviscent is planning to release under an open-source license.

Alex has extensive database design and development experience, including distributed database environments and complex systems. At various points of his career he worked with a dozen popular and less known database engines. He also has extensive experience in building UI for the web, having used pretty much all available technologies out there.

Alex has a Master’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from St. Petersburg Institute of Technology

Sheryl Olguin

Sheryl Olguin PhotoSheryl is the Director of Operations for Naviscent. She brings executive level Web project management with extensive experience in Information Technology (IT) and business management in the private sector with key emphasis on Web design, Internet, DTV technology, and audio production. As VP Production at S.O.L.O. Creative Media Inc., she managed several web design and redesign projects with virtual teams from different organizations located across multiple time zones for clients such as Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott, and Universal Studios. She also produced and managed numerous music and voiceover recording projects for artists, physicians, authors and sales professionals.

Prior to joining S.O.L.O. Creative Media, she worked at Harris Corporation, where she was responsible for the datacasting (interactive digital TV) demonstrations on the Harris/PBS DTV Express nationwide tour to promote digital television. Also at Harris Corp., she led the Corporate Infobahn team and the ESS Web Advisory Council, responsible for implementing Internet/Intranet services and standards for the corporation and the Electronic Systems Sector. She managed the ESS Web Center of Excellence, served as an Internet technology advisor to Sector executive management, and provided Internet and Intranet consulting for Harris clients.

Sheryl has a B.S. in Information and Computer Science from University of California, Irvine, with post graduate MBA studies also at UCI.
