Douglas K. van Duyne

Douglas K. van Duyne PhotoDouglas, a principal and founder of Naviscent, has more than 20 years of entrepreneurial, management and software design experience. An author of the best-selling Web site design book, The Design of Sites, Douglas is a leading influencer in the field of Customer Experience.

Before starting Naviscent, Douglas was a founder, CEO and President of Silicon Valley start-up, NetRaker Corporation. NetRaker’s online usability and market research tools and services were used in large-scale web-based research across Fortune 1000 companies. In April 2004, he and George engineered the successful acquisition of NetRaker by Keynote Systems.

His senior management experience includes positions at GO Corporation, an early portable computing developer; software product design at KidSoft, a pioneering e-commerce company that pre-dated Web-based shopping; and Dune Design Group, Inc., where his team executed large Web design projects for such clients as Intel, Safeway, Cooking.com, and healthshop.com.

Douglas is a sought-after speaker in the U.S.A. and internationally on topics such as customer experience management, usability, Web design, and design patterns. In the past, he has spoken at: American Marketing Association, Usability Professional’s Association Conferences, ACM-CHI Conferences, WebGuild Conferences, User Interface Engineering Conferences, and Norwegian Computer Society and Institute for International Research.

Douglas studied Computer Science, Physics, Visual Arts, and Music at the University of California, Berkeley and has a B.S. degree in Computer Science.

George A. Papazian

George A. Papazian PhotoGeorge, a founder of Naviscent, has more than 25 years experience in customer experience management, software, consulting and Internet industries. Before starting Naviscent, George was Chief Operating Officer of Silicon Valley start-up NetRaker Corporation, which provided usability and market research products and services to Fortune 1000 corporations. NetRaker was acquired by Keynote Systems in April 2004.

George came to NetRaker from Resonate, a pioneering Silicon Valley start-up focusing on Web server traffic management. As Vice President of Sales, he launched Resonate’s first product into the market, created a national sales force and established the company as the Internet traffic management software leader in corporate environments.

Prior to joining Resonate, George was Vice President of Software Sales at NCD Software, a division of Network Computing Devices. He was responsible for sales of NCD’s software products through multiple direct and indirect channels.

George also worked at Ashton-Tate, where he launched the Ashton-Tate/Microsoft SQL Server database. As a National Sales Manager for the company, he launched Unix, VMS, and client server technologies into various direct and indirect channels.

He has held various sales and marketing positions at Informix and Control Data Corporation, and has consulted with several technology companies. George serves as a Board Member of the American Red Cross, Silicon Valley. 

George has a B.S. degree in Finance and Management from New York University, New York City.
